CHANDLER

The Chandler walnut sapling was created by the University of California Engineers crossing Pedro and UG 56-224 in 1979. It is named after WH Chandler, Professor of Pomology (fruit) at UC DAWIS. The reason why Chandler is the most preferred walnut type in the world among the commercially produced walnut varieties; its very high efficiency. The tree structure has a medium growth rate, medium width and semi-erect. Chandler bark gets firmer as it ages. Its fruit is large, soft and oval in shape and has a good shell structure.
